B2B Lead Generation in Israel: Sources, Types and Costs

The 6sense 2024 Buyer Experience Report, a global survey of B2B buyers, found that 81% of buyers already have a preferred vendor when they first contact a seller. By then they are nearly 70% through the buying process.

So whoever fills out your website form has often chosen already. The question that decides deals is when you meet the buyer, and who gets there first.

Full disclosure: we run outbound at LeadBound, so I have a stake in the answer.

What is a B2B lead?

A B2B lead is a person at a company that matches your ideal customer, who influences the decision to buy, and with whom you can open a sales conversation.

A name and an email are just a contact. They become a lead when the company fits, the role decides and the address reaches their own inbox (info@ doesn't count). That profile is your ICP, the Ideal Customer Profile.

The same report put the average B2B buying group at 11 people, so a lead is often two or three people at one company: one who feels the problem, one who signs.

What is the difference between cold, warm, inbound and outbound leads?

Leads split on two axes: source (inbound or outbound) and readiness to talk (cold or warm).

An inbound lead came to you through a form, an ad or a referral. An outbound lead is someone you contacted first. A cold lead fits your profile and hasn't heard of you. A warm lead has shown interest, like a reply or a question about price. Even "get back to me after the holidays" (in Israel, the fall holidays) is a warm lead with a date.

One prospect replied to a client campaign of ours that they don't drink coffee, so the meeting was doomed, unless we switched to tea, then asked us to call and set it up. Cold to warm in one reply.

A quality lead meets all three conditions and shows the need exists now: a reply, or a fact like open roles, a funding round or a new branch. A cold lead with that sign beats a warm lead who doesn't fit.

Where do B2B leads come from in Israel?

There are six main sources, and what separates them is who chooses whom, and when.

The best sources are the hardest to control. Achzakal, an established building maintenance contractor, grew only through referrals before working with us, and you can't switch referrals on at 9 a.m. on a Sunday, when the Israeli week starts.

Controla relied on paid ads on Meta and LinkedIn, with high costs and low-quality leads. Outbound to CEOs, CTOs and COOs on LinkedIn and email got them 22 qualified meetings in 60 days.

How do you generate quality B2B leads in Israel?

Start with a narrow definition of the customer, then add a signal, verification and an offer, in that order.

  1. Define a narrow ICP. Industry, size, region and role. Achzakal targeted only businesses with three or more branches.
  2. Find a reason to write now. A signal is a fact showing the company needs you now, like open roles or a new branch. See the hiring signal campaign.
  3. Verify every address. Bounces hurt the sending domain's reputation, so verify before the first message.
  4. Make an offer that's easy to accept. What they get, what they don't have to do, and a small ask in place of "a quick intro call." See how to build an offer for outbound.
  5. Write the way Israelis write. Natural Hebrew, or English where that's the working language. A message that reads like a translation gets deleted in a second.
  6. Send from separate infrastructure. Warmed secondary domains, never your main domain.
  7. Answer fast. A lead who hears nothing back that day goes cold.

Achzakal's narrow ICP brought them 12 Enterprise meetings. Eliezer Sabag, the owner, wrote: "The team delivered meetings with major retail chains: IKEA, Samelet, iStore, and many others." None of them filled out a form on his website.

Nobody asked for your cold message, so you need a real reason to write to these people. Without one, don't send.

In Israel the market is small, everyone knows everyone, and a bad message gets retold on reserve duty. Many businesses with a physical presence are missing from LinkedIn-based databases, so good lists often combine sources. And Israel's spam law, section 30A of the Communications Law, has no general exemption for B2B cold email.

Should you generate B2B leads on LinkedIn or by email?

LinkedIn gets a higher reply rate at lower volume, while email gets more volume and needs infrastructure.

On LinkedIn, leads come from paid lead gen forms, which is advertising, or from personal outreach on your profile.

On LinkedIn the recipient sees a face, a title and mutual connections, which explains the gap. More on our email and LinkedIn services.

How much does B2B lead generation cost?

There's no single price per lead, because every vendor defines "lead" differently, so compare pricing models.

  • Pay per lead. Common with lead vendors and ads. You pay for every inquiry, good or bad, so check whether competitors get the same lead.
  • Pay per meeting. You pay only for meetings booked in your calendar.
  • Monthly retainer. You pay for a running system of lists, copy, sending and replies. It compounds, but can take months.
  • Buying a database. Cheapest per record, and all the work stays with you.
  • In-house team. The most control, the slowest start. What outbound costs in Israel breaks it down in ₪.

Pay per meeting sounds fairest. Fair to whom, though? A vendor paid per meeting wants more meetings, some with people who can't buy. Define in writing what counts: role, company size, and what happens on a no-show.

To value a meeting, multiply your average deal by the share of meetings that close. A model that costs less than that per decision-maker meeting is worth testing.

How do you choose a lead generation company in Israel?

Choose one that defines a lead up front, shows you every message sent in your name, and measures itself in meetings with people who decide.

Ask before you sign:

  • Are the leads exclusive to you?
  • Where does the data come from, and how is each address verified?
  • What exactly counts as a lead or a meeting?
  • Can you approve every message before it goes out?
  • Which clients in your industry can you check on LinkedIn?
  • If you sell to Israelis, who writes the Hebrew?

Walk away from "a database of hundreds of thousands of businesses," meetings promised before anyone asked what you sell, and sending from your main domain. A bought list sent as-is can burn the domain.

If referrals bring most of your customers today, ask: how many of your next customers chose a vendor before hearing your name?

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a cold lead and a warm lead?

A cold lead fits your profile but hasn't heard of you. A warm lead has shown interest by replying, asking for details or filling out a form.

What are inbound leads?

Inbound leads are inquiries the buyer starts: a website form, an ad or a referral. They are easy to work but arrive late: in 6sense's 2024 report, 81% of B2B buyers already had a preferred vendor at first contact.

How much does B2B lead generation cost in Israel?

It depends on the model: per lead, per meeting, retainer, database or in-house team. Compare them by cost per meeting with a decision-maker, since a cheap lead that never reaches a conversation costs more.

Should you buy leads from a lead generation company?

It can work when you need volume fast and someone can filter. Check exclusivity, freshness and what the contract counts as a lead, because an unverified database hurts your sending domain.

How do you get leads on LinkedIn?

Through lead gen forms in paid ads, or personal outreach from your profile. In LeadBound's campaigns, personal outreach gets a 20% to 45% reply rate. Volume is the limit: each profile has a cap on connection requests.
